NEW RENAULT KADJAR: PRICING AND FULL SPECIFICATION ANNOUNCED
Renault today reveals the specification and pricing information for the New Renault Kadjar.
  • Sitting in the middle of the manufacturer’s three-strong SUV range, the exterior of the New Kadjar features a stronger visual identity and, on the inside, a more contemporary design with a focus on perceived quality. Orders for the new model open from 3rd January. The car features a long list of standard equipment including a seven-inch infotainment touchscreen, LED daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, automatic lights and wipers, and front fog lights on every model.

For the first time the Kadjar range is now integrated into Renault’s EasyLife trim line-up, offering customers enhanced looks, enhanced specification, and enhanced value. The model range is made up of four versions, a reduction from five in the previous generation Kadjar. In addition to the now-familiar Play, Iconic and GT Line trims there is a new model: New Kadjar S-Edition. This style-focused trim sits between Iconic and GT Line and brings features such as striking interior upholstery that’s unique to this model, as well as redesigned LED headlights, a rear-view camera and a panoramic sunroof; features shared with the generously equipped flagship New Kadjar GT Line.

New Kadjar has a four-strong engine line-up. The new ultramodern TCe 140 and TCe 160 4-cylinder petrol engines were developed by the Alliance in cooperation with Daimler, and meet the highest standards in performance and drivability. The new Blue dCi diesel engine in 115hp and 150hp forms, gains enhanced power whilst offering effective technology that cuts emissions of engine pollutants. The TCe 140 and dCi 115 power units are available with a choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed EDC automatic gearbox, while the TCe 160 is available with a manual gearbox. At a later date, the dCi 150 engine will be available, exclusively in manual gearbox configuration, and with a choice of two-wheel or four-wheel drive.

The exterior design was a pivotal reason why more than 450,000 people around the world have purchased a Renault Kadjar. New Kadjar builds on this and improves the styling in a number of ways. The lines are more fluid and elegant, with revised front and rear ends. The wider grille includes chrome inserts and touches of chrome on the rear bumper that give the car a strong on-road stance. There are larger areas of body-coloured paintwork on the front and rear bumpers.

Kadjar S-Edition and Kadjar GT Line have all-new LED lights at the front with a development of Renault’s C-shape light signature. Indicators are integrated into the daytime running lights and the fog lights also incorporate LED technology. The energy consumption of these lights is six times lower than equivalent halogen units. At the rear the indicators also gain LEDs, as do the reversing lights and fog lights, which are now slimmer and are built into the bumper for a more elegant finish.

The cabin of the New Kadjar features a more contemporary design and improvements in perceived quality. A new control system for the air conditioning features a more modern and ergonomic design with the temperature and ventilation settings displayed in the centre of three thumbwheels for a clear and intuitive user experience. Particular focus has been placed on the air vent surrounds, door handles and centre console with satin chrome inserts. The new control functions for the electric windows and mirrors have been completely reworked, with backlighting for easier use at night. The door buckets are larger and can hold a 1.5-litre bottle. The improvements continue: further reinforcement in the seats provide better support, while larger cupholders are located in the centre console. The sliding front armrest is more suited to different driving positions and lighting has been added to the front cubby to further increase the functionality of the cabin.

In addition, the New Kadjar is available in three new colours: Oural Green and Highland Grey and, on the S-Edition and GT Line models, Iron Blue.

New Kadjar Play: High-spec entry-level model
Building on the features mentioned above, the New Kadjar Play has a range of equipment as standard. 17-inch alloy wheels and tinted windows complement the LED daytime running lights and the front fog lights to give the car a high-spec external appearance. The headlights are automatic, as are the windscreen wipers. Rear parking sensors make manoeuvring easy.

A highlight of the interior of the New Kadjar Play is the seven-inch colour infotainment touchscreen with capacitive technology, which means it is more sensitive to the driver or passenger’s touch. The driver or passengers’ smartphone can be seamlessly connected to the New Kadjar via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Standard equipment includes cruise control and a speed limiter to take the stress out of longer journeys. Driving comfort is enhanced with automatic climate control and a synthetic leather steering wheel. An electronic parking brake, larger cupholders, a sliding armrest and ambient lighting ensure the New Kadjar offers a more luxurious experience than before priced from £20,595 OTR.

New Kadjar Iconic: More technology, more style
New Kadjar Iconic builds on the tech-heavy specification of the Play model. The New Kadjar Iconic model includes TomTom® LIVE navigation with Western European mapping and DAB digital radio. This is part of the R-LINK2 infotainment system and includes Bluetooth® audio streaming and hands-free calls, voice control, and a range of vehicle-focused applications.

The Iconic features both front and rear parking sensors, with a reversing camera to further assist manoeuvring. Folding door mirrors are an added convenience, as is the hands free keycard for automatic door locking and unlocking. On the road technology comes in the form of a lane departure warning that enhances the safety of the New Kadjar.

Externally, the New Kadjar Iconic rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and has extra tinted windows plus a sharkfin DAB radio antenna and roof bars. New rear air vents provide greater comfort to rear seat passengers, as does the provision of two rear USB sockets. New Kadjar Iconic starts from £22,095 OTR.

    New Kadjar S-Edition: Enhanced appearance
A new trim to the Renault range, the S-Edition includes all the features from Iconic plus its standout feature: the unique interior upholstery with blue stitching. Full LED ‘Pure Vision’ headlights are standard, and the exterior appearance is further enhanced thanks to the front and rear feature skid plates in light grey. The lower door side protection includes a chrome accent. On the inside, the car is equipped with a panoramic sunroof and it includes specific upholstery with blue stitching. New Kadjar S-Edition starts from £23,595 OTR.

New Kadjar GT Line: A smart interior
The New Kadjar GT Line is a style-focused model that sits at the top of the New Kadjar range. The interior features items that maximise comfort, such as full leather seats and a leather covered steering wheel. The front seats are heated whilst that of the driver includes a cushion extender. A 360-degree camera set-up makes parking even easier and puddle lamps are a welcome addition when exiting the vehicle at night. The Kadjar GT Line also includes a blind spot warning system and pricing starts from £25,095 OTR.

    Proven 4WD transmission
The 4WD transmission on New Kadjar benefits from the expertise of Nissan. Available with three different operating modes, selected using a thumb wheel on the centre console, this system delivers surefooted performance on slippery roads or soft ground.

New Kadjar has a generous ground clearance of 200mm and, with an angle of attack of 17 degrees and an angle of departure of 25 degrees, is well-suited to off-road driving.

    Engines and gearboxes
A choice of four engines are available, with the New Kadjar Play being offered with TCe 140 petrol and dCi 115 diesel configurations. Both are available with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed EDC automatic gearbox. From New Kadjar Iconic the engine choice increases with the addition of the TCe 160 petrol unit. This engine is available with the six-speed manual gearbox.

New Kadjar GT Line will available with the dCi 150 engine, with a six-speed manual gearbox and with the option of two-wheel or four-wheel drive.

The 1.3-litre TCe engine developed by the Alliance in cooperation with Daimler, was first fitted on the Scénic and Mégane. The four-cylinder, 16-valve unit is fitted with a gasoline particulate filter (GPF).

The Blue dCi engine features, in the New Kadjar, enhanced power and driveability. The eight-valve 1.5-litre Blue dCi 115 has a power increase of 5hp and a torque increase of 10Nm compared with the previous generation unit and it includes Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. All engines meet Euro 6D Temp emission regulations.

    Easylife servicing plan and warranty
Servicing is available for £299 via Renault’s ‘EasyLife Pack’. This provides inflation-proof servicing at any of Renault’s 4000 dealers across Europe.

New Kadjar is covered by a warranty package for up to three years from the date of first registration with unlimited mileage during the first 24 months, followed by a further one year limited to a total mileage of 60,000.
