There’s currently a great choice of electric cars available on the Motability Scheme. They emit zero tailpipe emissions, deliver a sophisticated, silent and smooth-running drive – and if you have a home chargepoint, they can be charged overnight. Plus, the ever-growing network of public chargers means that you can top up the battery for when you drive longer distances, often in under 30 minutes.
From 2030, all new cars on sale will have to offer some form of pure electric drive. That’s less than seven years away – which is why the choice of electric cars (also known as EVs, or electric vehicles) on the Motability Scheme is growing all the time.
Here is the exciting electric Megane E-Tech that is now available on the Scheme for you to consider.
Renault Megane E-Tech Electric
What sort of car is it?
The new Renault Megane E-Tech Electric is the French manufacturer’s alternative to the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus, now going purely electric for the first time. A futuristic-looking five-door hatchback, it wears the new Renault logo with pride as one of their first ‘new era’ models.
In the well-equipped Techno+ grade, it is currently available on the Motability Scheme for a competitive Advance Payment of £495. If you put your £750 New Vehicle Payment towards this, you could drive away the Megane E-Tech Techno+ from Nil Advance Payment, plus put £250 into your bank account when you order today.
Why is it so popular?
The advanced new Renault Megane E-Tech Electric has a large 60kWh battery. This means it can travel up to 280 miles between charges, although this will depend on weather conditions and your driving style.
The charger port is located in the driver’s side front wing. Using a rapid public charging station, 150 miles of range can be added in just 25 minutes. It comes with a powerful 214bhp electric motor, which gives fun, reassuring levels of acceleration.
The Renault Megane E-Tech Electric has an advanced interior, based around a high-tech central touchscreen. This is a Google-based system, and you can even sign in to your Google account to use the familiar maps and voice assistant services. A full five-seater, there is a practical 440-litre boot and also a 33-litre stowage compartment in the front. This is ideal for storing charging cables.
If you're thinking of getting an electric vehicle (EV) as your next Motability Scheme car, it's important you keep a few things in mind. They are a greener option and can be very convenient if you have a home chargepoint – but you need to make sure that an EV is right for your individual circumstances and lifestyle.
If you’re leasing your first fully electric car on the Motability Scheme, we’ll support you with charging your car.
Motability will arrange and cover the cost of a home chargepoint and a standard installation.
You’ll have to pay extra if you need a non-standard installation. For example, if your parking space is not next to your home or your electrical equipment needs to be upgraded.
Or, if you do not have off-street parking or you cannot have a home chargepoint installed, we’ll give you access to the bp pulse network of over 9,000 public chargepoints instead.

You can now use your New Vehicle Payment to help towards your Advance Payment
Motability introduced the New Vehicle Payment last year to help with the rising costs of getting a new vehicle on the Motability Scheme. On 1 March 2023, Motability increased this payment to £750.
Now, Motability are giving you the option to send your New Vehicle Payment directly to Sutton Park, to help towards the cost of your Advance Payment on a new Kia.
This is instead of getting the New Vehicle Payment a few weeks after you’ve picked up your new vehicle and already paid your Advance Payment.
We hope that giving you this option will make it easier for you to order your next vehicle on the Scheme.
Find out if you’re eligible to receive our New Vehicle Payment by answering a few simple questions
If you’re eligible for the New Vehicle Payment, you can now choose for this to be sent directly to Sutton Park to help towards the cost of some, or all, of your Advance Payment.
Your local Sutton Park dealer will ask if you’d like to do this when you’re ordering your new car or WAV.
If you choose to send your New Vehicle Payment to Sutton Park, we’ll arrange this for you before your new car is ready, so you do not need to do anything.
We’ll also confirm this in the letter we send to you once your order has been accepted.
You’ll need to pay the difference between the New Vehicle Payment and your Advance Payment to Sutton Park when you get your new vehicle.
For example, if you order a vehicle with a £1000 Advance Payment and choose to send your New Vehicle Payment to your dealer, you’d have £250 left to pay when you get your new vehicle.
We’ll send the difference to you within a week or two of you getting your new vehicle.
For example, if you order a vehicle with a £500 Advance Payment and choose to send your New Vehicle Payment to your dealer, we’ll send the remaining £250 to you within a week or so of you getting your new vehicle.
We’ll send this by bank transfer if you’ve saved your bank details in your Motability Scheme online account. If not, we’ll send a cheque.
